Pain in appendicitis
A
Peri-umbilical abdominal pain radiating to RIF, pain being worse on coughing or going over speed bumps

Symptoms of appendicitis
A
Vomit, mild pyrexia, anorexia

Examination findings in appendicitis
A
Generalised peritonitis if perforation has occured, rebound, percussion tenderness, guarding and rigidity. Rovsing’s sign, psoas sign.

Diagnosis of appendicitis
A
Raised inflammatory markers, compatible history and exam. neutrophil predominant leucocytosis 80%.

Urinary analysis, US

Management of acute appendicitis
A
Appendicectomy, prophylaxic IV abx
