Stomach and spleen Flashcards
What are the layers of the GI mucosa
epithelium, lamina propria, muscularis mucosa
What is the nervous control of muscularis mucosa
Submucosal /Meissner’s plexus
What does the submucosal plexus control
the muscularis muscosa
What does Meissner’s plexus control
the muscularis mucosa
What makes up the submucosa
loose CT
blood vessles, nerves, lymphatics + glands
What controls the muscles of the gut wall
Myenteric/Auerbach’s plexus
What does the myenteric plexus control
the muscles of the gut wall
What does Auerbach’s plexus control
the muscles of the gut wall
What are the layers of the muscularis externa in the GI tract
outer longitudinal layer + inner circular layer, with an innermost oblique muscle layer in the stomach only
What is the relative position of the serosa to the adventita in the GIT
adventitia is deep to the serosa
S uperficial, S erosa
At what level is the inferior oesophageal sphincter
T11
Is the superior mesenteric artery to the right or left of the superior mesenteric vein
to the left, towards the ascending part of the duodenum
What arterial trunk supplies the stomach
coeliac trunk
Describe the arterial supply of the stomach
Anastamoses along each curvature:
On the lesser curvature it is anastamoses of the right and left gastic arteries
On the greater curvature it is anastamoses of the right and left gastro-omental arteries (because the greater omentum hangs from the greater curvature!)
What is the source of the right gastric artery
the right gastric artery is a branch of the common hepatic artery, arising from the coeliac trunk
