What is the difference between a direct and an indirect inguinal hernia?
A
Indirect - herniation through deep and superficial inguinal ring (through inguinal canal) down towards scrotum. Herniation occurs laterally to the inferior epigastric artery
Direct - through superficial inguinal ring only, doesn’t go through inguinal canal

A
A bit of the stomach coming up over the diaphragm
