A
  • continuous seizure for > 5 mins

(old def: > 15-30 mins)

OR

≥2 seizures within 5 mins without regaining consciousness

Status epilepticus is a continuous seizure status for more than 15-30 mins

● When seizure attack – Lorazepam, if persisted ⇨ Phenytoin or

Fosphenytoin, can be repeated

● if still persisted after 20-30 mins⇨ Phenobarbital + intubation

● If lasting more than 60-90mins ⇨ Midazolam, Propofol, Pentobarbital
