Glial cell tumour:
- Astrocytoma – if Grade IV = glioblastoma multiforme – most common brain malignancy;
- also the most aggressive BUT localised (aka semimalignant)
- Oligodendroglioma – mainly in frontal lobe
- Ependymoma – mainly in ventricles
- Schwannoma – mainly in CN VIII
- Glioma – benign, often arise in CN II
- - Meningioma*
- Neuroma: Ganglioma
- Poorly differentiated tumour: Medulloblastoma
– most common primary brain malignancy in children; mainly in cerebellum
- Metastatic tumours: lungs > breast > kidneys > GI tract > skin [order from the most common]
