Glial cell tumour:

  • Astrocytoma – if Grade IV = glioblastoma multiforme – most common brain malignancy;
  • also the most aggressive BUT localised (aka semimalignant)
  • Oligodendroglioma – mainly in frontal lobe
  • Ependymoma – mainly in ventricles
  • Schwannoma – mainly in CN VIII
  • Glioma – benign, often arise in CN II
  • - Meningioma*
  • Neuroma: Ganglioma
  • Poorly differentiated tumour: Medulloblastoma

– most common primary brain malignancy in children; mainly in cerebellum
- Metastatic tumours: lungs > breast > kidneys > GI tract > skin [order from the most common]
