Anatomy of Cortico-spinal tract

Describe the pathway:

A
  1. Descending pathway from premotor cortex (area 6), precentral motor cortex (area 4).

Passing by internal capsule to the brain stem, the fibers decussate (crossing) in the lower part of medulla oblongata and then form the lateral cortico-spinal tract which terminate by synapsing with lower motor neuron at ventral horn of gray matter in corresponding spinal cord

  1. Ventral cortico-spinal tract (contralateral) decussates at spinal cord levels in ventral white commissure.
