Solid, Liquids and Gas Flashcards
How can you determine how well particles stick together
The material
the temperature
The pressure
What are the 5 different properties
Volume - how much space something takes up
shape
Density - how heavy something is for its size
Compressibility - how much you can squash something
ease of flow
Give the way solids, liquids and Gas act with the 5 properties
Volume (solids) - Have definite volume.
Volume (liquids) - Have definite volume
Volume (Gas) - Have no definite volume, fills the entire container
Shape (Solids) - Definite shape
Shape (liquids) - Match the shape of the container
Shape (Gas) - Become the same shapes as the container
Density (Solid) - Have high density
Density (Liquids) - Liquids usually have medium density
Density (Gas) - Very low density
Compressibility (Solids) - Not easily squashed
Compressibility (Liquids) - Liquids not easily squished
Compressibility (Gas) - easily squashed
Ease of flow (Solids) - Solids don’t flow
Ease of flow (Liquids) - Liquids flow easily
Ease of flow (Gas) - Gases flow easily
