How we see Flashcards
Why do we see things?
Because light reflects into our eyes
What can lenses be used for?
Focus light
What does the cornea do?
It’s a ‘window’ with a convex shape that does most of the eye’s focusing
What do convex lenses do?
behind the cornea - changes shape to focus light from objects at varying distances
What does the iris do?
It’s the coloured part of the eye.
It controls the amount of light entering the eye
What does the retina do and what is it sensitive towards?
Images are formed in the retina.
cells in the retina are sensitive to light.
What is energy carried by?
Light waves
What happens when a light source hits an absorber?
Energy is transferred to the absorber when hits the absorber
What happens when light waves hit a retina cell
it causes chemical and electrical changes in the special cells that send signals to the brain.
Why do see things upside down originally?
Because the rays of light cross over inside our eyes
