What do you take in when inhaling?
Oxygen and carbon dioxide

Inhaling - moves down when it contracts
exhaling - moves up when it relaxes

Through the trachea
What are the bronchi split into smaller tubes called?
bronchioles
Where does gas exchange happen?
the alveoli in the lungs
Were does some of the oxygen inhaled go?
it passes into the bloodstream to be used for respiration
What is the waste product in respiration? How is it breathed out?
Carbon dioxide
In the lungs it passes out of the blood and then breathed out
How do the gases pass into or out of the bloodstream? (give the meaning)
By diffusion where a substance moves from where there’s is lots of it to were there ‘s less of it.
How are lungs adapted to gas exchange?
1)They’re moist
2) They have a good blood supply
3) the alveoli (air sacs) give the lungs a big inside surface area
