any substance that affects the way the body works
e.g. raise heart rate, blurry vision

Name the 7 life processes in which the drugs affect
Movement - moving parts of body
Reproduction - producing offspring
Sensitivity - responding & reacting
Growth - getting to adult size
Respiration - turning food into energy
Excretion - getting rid of waste
Nutrition - getting Food to stay alive
Drug - affect brain - affects movement and sensitivity
Drug - affect liver & kidneys (process waste) - affect excretion
What are reactional drugs
drugs used for enjoyment rather than medicine - can be legal or illegal
What are solvents?

Drugs that can make you hallucinate. they usually have a severe effect on behaviour and character. - can cause damage to lungs, brain liver and kidneys
E.G paint, aerosols and glues
what is alcohol and at what age can you buy it?
at the age of 18. Found in beer, wine and spirits. a depressant - means it decreases activity of brain and slows down response.
poison - can affect the liver and brain this can lead to cirrhosis (liver disease)
Very addictive and can impair judgment which can lead to accidents.
Give 8 Illegal drugs
Ecstasy and LSD (hallucinogens) - Ecstasy gives the feeling of boundless energy. leads to dehydration, overheating and sometimes death
Heroine and morphine (pain killers) - highly addictive. both cause degeneration of person’s life
Amphetamine and methedrine (stimulants) - Gives boundless energy. Users become psychologically dependent. behaviour and character deteriorate.
Barbiturates (depressants) - slow down nervous system so they slow down reaction time. Help you to sleep but seriously habit - forming
