Q

A wooden box weighs 15N and its base has an area of 0.8 m² Calculate the pressure exerted by the box on the floor.

A

15 ÷ 0.8 = 18.75 N/m² or 18.75 Pa

Q

How do you gain less/more atmosphere

A

The lower you the more atmosphere there is above you so pressure due to weight increases

the higher you are the less atmosphere there is above you so pressure decreases

Q

What happens when you put an object in water

A

It experiences water pressure from all directions
Because water pressure increases with depth force pushing upwards at the bottom of the object will get greater than force pushing down
this is called upthrust
if upthrust is equal to objects weight then object will float
If upthrust is less than object weight then it’ll sink
