Relative motion Flashcards
1
Q
How do you calculate the relative motion of two trains moving towards each other at the opposite direction? (One red train another blue)
A
You add the speeds together
E.G - 30 km/h + 25 km/h = 55 km/h
2
Q
If you are sat on the red train why does the blue train appear to move faster and closer compared to when you sat at the side of the track?
A
Because the Blue train is moving towards you whilst you’re also moving towards
3
Q
How do you calculate the relative motion for when you have two objects moving at the same direction and the same straight line?
A
You subtract their speed to calculate relative motion
E.G - 30 mph - 20 mph = 10 mph
