Cooperation
When people act together for their mutual benefit so that all of them can obtain a goal.
Competition
When a person acts for his or her own individual benefit so that he or she can obtain a goal that has limited availability.
Prisoner’s Dilemma
A conflict between 2 “prisoners” who can either confess to the crime or remain silent. Would one person choose to compete or cooperate
Robber’s Cave Experiment
An experiment with 2 groups of boys who were asked to engage in cooperative activities as separate groups and then engaged in competition against groups and then engage in cooperative activities as a camp.
Superordinate Goals
Goals that are best obtained through intergroup cooperation.
