Soc5- Principles Of Training Flashcards
What is the definition of Specificity?
The particular requirements of an activity
What is the definition of Progressive Overload?
This area between the minimum threshold of training is called target zone. Gradually increasing the amount of overload so as to gain fitness without the risk of injury
What is the definition of Individual needs?
Matching training to the requirements of an individual
What is the definition of Frequency?
It is how often someone trains over a 7 day period
What is the definition of Intensity?
It is how hard someone trains, normally measured by a %
What is the definition of Time?
It is how long each training session must last in order to benefit and to achieve impact
What is the definition of Type?
It is to select the most appropriate method of training to achieve a goal
Name an example of a sport using Specificity
A CM in Football needs to have good cardio and a forward in rugby neess to be fit and strong
Name an example of a sport using Progressive overload
Cardiovascualr fitness will involve areobic respiration however a weight would have to increase their reps of a couple of weeks to make an impact on their fitness. E.G. Running
Name an example of a sport using Individual needs
A new triathlete would have to start at the bottom of a training plan however a triathlete who is experienced will most likely want to be at the top of their training plan
Name an example of a sport using Frequency
A marathon runner would have a rest day, a recovery run, a continuous run and a high intensity run
Name an example of a sport using Intensity
A runner would have to raise their heart rate to go in the target zone
Name an example of a sport using time
Cardiovascular fitness can be improved by training for longer than 20mins in your target zone
Name a sport using Type
Sprinters training specificity to improve their speed would use interval training
What is the definition of Training Thresholds?
A safe and effective level to train at
