Torn cartilage
Cartilage is a rubbery tissue that covers and protects the ends of bones in a joint. This means it can be damaged by over streching ans twisting a joint too far.
What are soft tissue injuries?
Joints that tear or overstretch tendons, ligaments, muscles and cartilages
Sprains
A sprain is a damaged ligament due to an overstretch
Strains
A strain is a twist or stretch muscle or tendon.
Fracture
A fracture is a broken or cracked bone
Dislocations
When a bone at a joint is forced out its normal position
Abrasion
Grazes and cuts caused by friction
Concussion
An impact to the head causes unconsiousness, confusion or memory loss.
What are the 5 ways to prevent injury
- Using the correct principles of training
- Playing to the rules in competition
- Protective equipmeng/clothing
- Warming up/cooling down
