Review Flashcards
Normal HR (Heart rate)?
60-90 BPM. Anything below is BRADYCARDIA and anything above is TACHYCARDIA
Healthy goal for total cholesterol?
Less than or equal to 200
HDL
“Good” cholesterol. High-density lipoprotein. HDL picks up/removes LDL once repairs are done. Low HDL levels compared to LDL levels cause a buildup of LDL in the blood vessel wall, which eventually leads to an atheroma.
LDL
“Bad” cholesterol (if levels are higher than HDL). Low-density lipoprotein. LDL is sent to a damaged blood vessel where it is absorbed into the vessel wall to repair it. Requires HDL to remove it from the vessel wall once repairs are done.
Normal breathing rate?
12-20 breathes per min
Systolic (BP)
Blood pressure while heart ventricles are contracting. The normal systolic range for adults: 90-140. (This is the top number of blood pressure b/c it’s written like a fraction).
Diastolic (BP)
Blood pressure in between heart contractions/ during resting periods. The normal range in adults is 60-90. Bottom number of blood pressure.
