A
To prevent DOMS, fatigue, nausea and cramps
3
Q
How does a cool down help recovery?
A
- decreases body temperature
- allows breathing rate and heart rate to slowly decrease
- reduces chance of DOMS
- removes lactic acid
- reduces the chance of dizziness caused by pooling of blood
4
Q
How does rehydration aid recovery?
A
- by replacing the fluids lost during exercise it reduces the chance of cramps
- the performer also needs to replace the glucose used during respiration of the muscles, this can be done by eating carbs
5
Q
How does ice-baths aid recovery?
A
- this causes vasocontraction in the blood vessels
- when the performer gets our the bath the blood vessels vasodilate which means that the waste products can be flushed out and more blood can flow to the fibres that need repairing
- this reduces swelling and DOMS
6
Q
How do massages help recovery?
A
- reduces tight muscles
- increases blood flow to areas that need recovery, which stimulates he fibres to grow back stronger
- this reduces swelling
