Reasons for carrying out fitness tests
A
- to identify strengths and weaknesses
- to gauge the success of the training program
- to compare yourself to the
national average - to set goals
- to show starting level of fitness before a training program

Limitations of fitness testing
A
- often not sport specific
- they do not replicate movements of activities
- most tests on maximal, this means that individual must try their hardest and therefore they must have high motivation levels
- The test must be carried out correctly or otherwise scores will not be accurate
