Where does Feedback come from?
- from within
- from others

What is positive feedback?
It is used to inform the athlete what was correct about the movement
What are the benefits of positive feedback?
- provide reference points for further future attempts at the movement
- motivates athletes
What is negative feedback?
It is used to inform athlete what was incorrect about the movement
What must negative feedback include?
Information on the action required by the performer to achieve the correct movement
What is knowledge of results?
Focuses on how successful you’ve been in achieving what you set out to do
What is knowledge of performance?
Feedback about the quality of your performance
What is extrinsic feedback?
Information received about the performance which comes from outside of the performer
What is intrinsic feedback?
It is information which is received from within the performer
What is the ‘feeling’ of the movement called ?
Kinaesthesis
What feedback does a beginner need?
- positive feedback as may be demotivated by negative
- knowledge of results as cannot understand complex feedback on performance
- extrinsic feedback
What feedback does an elite performer need?
- negative feedback to fine tune technique
- knowledge of performance as can interpret complex feedback on performance
- intrinsic and extrinsic as can work out what they are doing wrong but need coach to fine tune
