Protista (Amoeba) Chp22 Flashcards
What is the structure of amoeba
cell membrane, nucleus, contractile vacuole, cytoplasm (ectoplasm + endoplasm), food vacuole, fat droplet, pseudopodia
Function of the cell membrane
keeps cell contents in place
What is the function of the nucleus
controls the cell
What is the function of food vacuoles
secrete acids and enzymes to kill and then digest the prey
What is the function of the pseudopodia
extend in the direction amoeba wants to move, the cytoplasm moves into the pseudopodia causing cell to move, they also engulf prey
What is the function of the contractile vacuole
collects water that enters the amoeba by osmosis, then it expands and touches the cell membrane and bursts to expel the water
