What types of inclusion bodies should you look for in histopathology?

A

Type B/Guarnieri: Slightly basophilic, composed of viral particles, and protein aggregates. Seen in most poxviruses.

Type A/ATI: Cowpox and ectromelia virus induce these. Strongly eosinophilic.

Bollinger and Borrel bodies in avipoxvirus.

Where would you inoculate an egg with poxvirus?

A
Chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) and look for pock lesions.
**PARAPOXVIRUSES do NOT multiply in chicken embryo**
