What types cause Firopapilloma?
Bovine papillomavirus 1, 2, and 5
What does Fibropapilloma look like?
Fibrous core covered with stratified squamous epithelium that has hyperkeratinized outer layers.
They can be small and firm or cauliflower-like
Grayish to black in color and rough and spiny to the touch
Where on the animal are Fibropapilloma’s common?
Udder
Teats
Head, neck, shoulder
Vagina, vulva, penis, anus
What is the problem that can occur with bulls having a Fibropapilloma on the penis?
The warts grow fast and may surround the tip of the penis– rendering them unfit as studs.
Which type of BPV causes cutaneous papillomas?
Type 3
What do cutaneous papillomas look like?
Lack a fibrous core
Broad and flat
Tend to persist
What type of BPV can cause transient papillomas in the alimentary tract?
BPV-4
