Are CPV warts benign or malignant?

Benign
Progression to squamous cell carcinoma occurs very rarely

Where can you find CPV warts?
A
Lips, buccal mucosa, tongue, palate, and pharynx.
They can later become roughened and cauliflower-like.
Do not extend below epiglottis or into esophagus.

What are they characterized histologically by?
A
Koilocytosis- epithelial hyperplasia and cytoplasmic vacuolization

What are the clinical signs of CPV?
A
Halitosis
Hemorrhage
Ptyalism (hyper-salivation)
Discomfort

Where can ocular warts be found?
A
Conjunctiva, cornea, and eyelid margins

How do you treat CPV?
A
Warts normally regress
Recovered dogs are refractory to reinfection
