Measles (Rubeola) Signs and Symptoms
- Stuffy nose & swelling of mucosa
- Red rash starting on face and working down
- Koplik’s spots - small red spots with bluish-white center and red base
Measles Transmitted through
Airborne & Droplets
Rubella (German Measles) Symptoms
Rash on face which spreads to body. Pinpoint spots in the soft palate.
Rubella transmission
- Direct contact
- Airborne
- Droplets
Mumps Symptoms
- Fever
- Headache
- Malaise
- Jaw pain especially when chewing

Chickenpox treatment
Zovirax - an antiviral
Pertussis Symptoms
aka Whooping cough
Respiratory infection followed by bad cough with whooping sound on inspiration. Cyanosis and respiratory distress

Diphtheria Symptoms
Fever, malaise, sore throat, foul smelling nasal discharge, dense pseudomembrane in throat which can obstruct eating and breathing.

Diphtheria treatment
Strict isolation, diphtheria antitoxin and antibiotics. Humidified oxygen and suction as required.
Mumps treatment
Bed rest, avoid foods that require chewing, hot/cold compress, monitor for aseptic meningitis.

Supportive treatment
Measles treatment
Bedrest & administer vitamin A
