Q

What is paneas divisum?

A

failure for ventral and dorsal pancreatic buds to fuse at the 8th week of fetal life (the normal time)

leads to clinically silent drainage of pancreatic secretions via two ducts, the Dominant route comes from Dorsal but, minor route comes from ventral

different from normal in that the accessory pancreatic duct (which stems from the dorsal bud and normally degenerates) persists and becomes the main supply to the duodenum - through the minor papilla
