Other Drugs Flashcards
1
Q
What is atropine used for?
A
first line in severe/symptomatic bradycardia, particularly post MI - elevated vagal tone, IV, monitoring required
2
Q
What is Ivabradine used for?
A
second line in angina - reduced blood supply to cardiac muscle - angina pain due to lack of oxygen - slower HR = reduced oxygen consumption
3
Q
What is the mechanism of action of Ivabradine?
A
selective blocker of HCN channels - reduces slope of pacemaker potential - decreases frequency of APs - slows HR
4
Q
What is the mechanism of atropine?
A
non-selective competitive muscarinic ACh receptor antagonist - increases HR
