Ondansetron Classification?
Antiemetic
Ondansetron Mechanism?
A Seratonin (5HT3) R and Dopamine (D2) antagonist affecting receptor sites in postrema and vagal nerve terminals which inhibits vomiting. Further, it blocks anti-peristaltic affects of apomorphine which promotes gastric and intestinal motility.
Ondansetron Indications?
Nausea and/or vomiting
Ondansetron Contraindications?
-Hypersensitivity
-Currently taking apomorphine
Ondansetron Side Effects/Precautions?
-Headache
-Dry mouth
-Prolonged QT interval
-Heart block
-Constipation
-Diarrhea

4mg
