MOI for adhesive capsulitis (Frozen shoulder)
insidious onset
females, fair skin > male
Tx of adhesive capsulitis
PT (gentle or aggressive)
injection therapy
lasts about 12 months
Eval of GH joint degeneration
ROM, decrease in strength, crepitus
If a male presents with a “frozen shoulder” what should you suspect? What about a female?
Male: suspect osteoarthritis, get x-ray
Female: suspect adhesive capsulitis
Tx of GH joint degeneration
goal is early detection
PT to maintain ROM and strength
potential surgery if >60
What is calcific tendinitis, it’s sx, and tx
Calcium leaks into tendon and causes an inflammatory reaction
Extremely painful and sudden onset
Tx;L Indomethicin for 7-10 days
What is AC Joint osteolysis, its sx, and tx
Clavicle is breaking down away from acromion
No trauma, repetitive stress
Pt will point to AC joint for pain
Tx: PT, injection, surgery
What is thoracic outlet syndrome
anterior scalene tightness causing neurovasculature getting pinched
