Q

What is important about osteosarcoma

A

High grade malignant bone forming tumor
occurs in teens and older adults
minimal sx, pts aren’t sick
Most die from metastasis to lungs

Q

What do you see on xray of osteosarcoma

A

Eats away at bone (lytic)
No sclerotic rim because bone doesn’t have time to form around it
Lucent areas aren’t yet calcified
“sunburst” appearance

16
Q

Chondrosarcoma on xray

A
enchondroma
metaphyseal, diaphyseal
intra-medullary
lytic lesion
poorly marginated
looks like little bites are taken out of bone
17
Q

What is a UBC (unicameral bone cyst)

A

developmental defect with no bone at growth pate

18
Q

What is ABC (aneurysmal bone cyst)

A

cortex destroyed by periosteal rxn and bone balloons out

19
Q

Important notes about chondroblastoma

A

Occurs in teens and 20s
Always very painful
almost always in epiphysis and knee
