A

fat deposited in liver cells which interferes with liver cells’ functioning

A
  • abnormal LFTs with no clear cause –> non-invasive liver screen
  1. ELF blood test (to assess fibrosis once NAFLD diagnosis reached)
  2. NAFLD fibrosis score where ELF not available
  3. Fibroscan

Diagnosis?

A

ELF:

  • <7.7 –> no to mild fibrosis
  • 7.7-9.8 –> moderate fibrosis
  • >9.8–> severe fibrosis

A
  • wt loss
  • exercise
  • cut smoking and alcohol
  • control of DM, BP etc
  • refer to hepatologist
