- low fibre diet
- obesity

A
incidence increases w advancing age

Symptoms of diverticulitis?
A
- abdo pain
- tenderness in LIF
- fever
other symptoms:
- change in bowel habit
- nausea
- anorexia
- urinary frequency

- diverticular disease
- diverticulitis
A
- diverticular disease
- colonoscopy
- diverticulitis
- CT abdo pelvis w contrast

Q
Mx of diverticulitis
A
- consider admission if unwell
Abx- co amoxiclav
analgesia - paracetamol
IV fluids
- may require surgical resection if severely septic / peritonitic
- advise high fibre diet

complications?
A
- haemorrhage
- perforation
- abscess
- fistula
- ileus / obstruction due to strictures formed
