Muscles of upper limb- Arm myology Flashcards
Anterior: Coracobrachialis
O: Tip of coracoid process
I: Middle third of medial aspect of humerus
N: Musculocutaneous nerves C5-7
B: Brachial artery
A: Flexor and adducts the shoulder joint
Anterior: Brachialis
O: Anterior aspect of humerus (medial and lateral surfaces) and adjacent intermuscular septae
I: Coronoid process and tuberostiy of ulna
N: Musculocutaneous nerve C5, 6.
B: Brachial artery
A: Flexor of arm at glenohumeral joint
Anterior: Biceps brachii (made up of two heads)
O: Long head: supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Short head: Tip of coracoid process
I: Radial tuberosity
N: Musculocutaneous nerve C5, 6
B: Branches of brachial artery
A: Powerful flexor of forearm at elbow joint. Supinates forearm.
Posterior: Triceps brachii (three heads)
O: Long head: Infraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Medial head: Posterior surface of humerus (below and medial to radial groove)
Lateral head: Posterior surface of humerus (above and lateral to radial groove)
I: Posterior part of olecranon process of ulna
N: Radial nerve C6-8
B: Deep brachial artery, superior ulnar collateral artery
A: Extends forearm at elbow joint. Long head can also extend and adduct arm at shoulder joint
Brachioradialis
O= Proximal 2/3rds lateral supracondylar ridge of humerus
I: Lateral side of base of styloid process of radius
N: Radial nerve (C5-C6)
B: Radial arteries
A: Flexes the elbow and assists in pronating and supinating the forearm
