Skin - decreased tactile stimulation, sweat and sebaceous glands decrease activity
Breast - decrease erectile response with sexual stimulation
Vagina - Shortened, loss of elasticity, decreased secretions
What are some treatments for the postmenopausal changes?
Estrogen creams, Estrogen vaginal ring, Water based lubricants, HRT, Testos-terone
What are some orgasmic disfxns in women with diabetes mellitus?
There is little evidence of impaired vaginal lubrication and vulval tumescence.
They may have a lower level of sexual desire.
They are prone to vaginal infection with uncontrolled blood glucose levels
What are some reproduction hazards in women with diabetes mellitus?
Their fertility is impaired.
There is a tendency to spontaneously abort, have premature births or intrauterine death,have larger babies
Oral contraception pills may disturb BS control
What % of men with diabetes has impotence?
35-39%
Diabetic men with erectile disfxn are more likely to develop what other diseases?
retinopathy and neuropathy
What are some changes status post CABG?
Females have a decreased sexual desire.
Males have a problem with sexual arousal.
Moderate exercise without difficulty such as sexual activity of a calm, non-athletic kind is
usually recommended.
What might the onset of erectile disfxn be a warning sign of?
Arterial disease
What should the erectile disfxn pt avoid prior to sex?
Food and alcohol
