What is Vulvar pain syndromes?
Pain that is provoked by touching the vestibule
What is the most common cause of dyspareunia in perimneopausal and menopausal women?
Urogenital atrophy
What causes Urogenital atrophy?
hypoestrogenism
What the etiology of Inadequate lubrication unrelated to hypoestrogenic states?
from inadequate foreplay technique, relationship issues and interpersonal conflict and some medication
What is vaginismus?
Involuntary contraction of the muscles of the pelvic floor
What is Painful bladder syndrome/interstitial cystitis?
Pain associated with bladder filling and or emptying and usually accompanied by urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia and dyspareunia
What are some Sx of Urethral diverticulum?
Dyspareunia and dysuria
What are some Sx of cystitis?
Dysuria usually in combination with frequency, urgency, suprapubic pain and or hematuria
What are some etiologies of Vulvovaginitis?
candida albicans or trichomonas vaginalis causing superficial genital pain during intercourse as a result of local inflammation and edema
What are some meds that might cause inadequate vaginal lubrication?
Low estrogen, some high blood pressure medication, antihistamines and anticholinergic agents
