safe, effective, and has no delay in return to fertility, you don’t need a medical examination, or special fitting, and there are minimal side effects. It may actually give better protection against STIs than a male condom. The external ring my stimulate the clitoris, and the female condom, being made of synthetic materials, doesn’t have as many storage requirements as the latex condoms

difficult to insert/use, outer ring is visible, has a higher failure rate than the male condom, makes noise during sex, more expensive, and not widely available. Also It cant be used for anal sex.

Instruct a pt how to use a female condom

Answer 4

Do not use with male condom, as it breaks easier. The inner ring goes into the vaginal opening and then the index finger pushes the condom as far as it can go, outer ring stays outside. Make sure the penis stays inside the female condom. Don’t throw away in the toilet or reuse the condom.
