What is “MedLink”?
It is a service provided by MedAire Inc
What can MedLink assist with?
- Assess medical situations
- Determine pax or crew fitness to fly
- Assess credibility and capability of a passenger who volunteers to provide medical assistance
- Determine what medication from the “Medical Kit” that can be used
- Recommend a course of action - divert or continue
When should MedLink be contacted?
- Pax or Crew member suffering medical problems which requires medical assistance
- If a Doctor on board offers to request assistance
- To determine a passengers fitness to fly
- Suspected cases of Infectious Diseases
What is the procedure sequence when a medical emergency occurs on board?
- ISM shall inform Commander
2. ISM/deputy will delegate a Crew member to contact MedLink from any Cabin Airphone
How is communication with MedLink established?
Call *11 for direct connection, if it doesn’t work call *12 for IOC and request a phone patch
If all attempts to contact MedLink fails call flight deck and check serviceability of SATCOM system.
If still unsuccessful request Flight Crew to contact IOC and establish a phone patch with MedLink
Where is the Medical Kit located?
At the R2 door
Where are First Aid Kits located?
All doors on the left side of the aircraft
Where is the Body Bag located?
Door R1
What is an M-PED?
Medical - Portable Electronic Device
What prior notice is required for the use of M-PED:s?
48h advance notice
What cabin phone should be used for Satphone calls to Medlink with Iridium fitted to the aircraft?
L2 phone
