Q

Define Additional Fuel?

A

Is to cater for en-route depress and/or engine failure
Used if there is more fuel needed to go to the last ERA than we need to go to the destination.

Q

Define Alternate Fuel?

A

Fuel to make a missed approach, climb to cruise, fly to alternate airport + 5% contingency, descend and complete an approach to landing
Cost index used is 0
Min 90nm is used in calculations

Q

Define Minimum Reserve Fuel?

A

It’s the fuel we need after a diversion following a depress and/or engine failure.
Equal to 15 min holding at 1500 ft AGL based on planned landing weight at the ERA

16
Q

Under what conditions fuel wise can we continue towards our destination?

A

If we have:
1. Normal Fuel required available, or
2. Having a suitable ERA, or
3. In-flight Fuel Reduction is available

17
Q

When should the decision to divert to an ERA due to fuel be made at the latest?

A

Prior to passing overhead or abeam the last suitable ERA

18
Q

What are the conditions required to do In-flight Fuel Reduction?

A
  1. Two independent runways available or two separate runways within 60nm
  2. WX (METAR+TAF) at or above non-precision minimas for alternates
  3. X-wind within limits
  4. No delays expected
19
Q

What is Normal Fuel required to continue to destination?

A
  1. Fuel to destination
  2. Make an approach to land
  3. Diversion fuel to alternate with 5% contingency fuel
  4. Final Reserve Fuel of 30 min
20
Q

What is the fuel required to do In-flight Fuel Reduction?

A
  1. Fuel to continue to destination +
  2. Extra 5% fuel from overhead or abeam the last ERA +
  3. Approach to land +
  4. Final Reserve Fuel of 30 min
21
Q

What fuel is required at:
1. Destination
2. Destination using In-flight Fuel Reduction
3. Alternate
4. ERA
5. ERA following depress and/or engine failure

A
  1. Alternate Fuel + Final Reserve Fuel
  2. Final Reserve Fuel
  3. Final Reserve Fuel
  4. Final Reserve Fuel
  5. Minimum Reserve Fuel
22
Q

What is the difference between declaring:
1. “MINIMUM FUEL” and
2. “MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY FUEL”?

A
  1. We have committed to land at a specific airport and any change to existing clearance may result in landing with less than planned Final Reserve Fuel. No priority will be given unless a MAYDAY is declared
  2. The aircraft will land with less than Final Reserve Fuel and shall be given priority to land
23
Q

What is the definition of an “Isolated Aerodrome”?

A

It is more then 1h 30 min away from a suitable alternate

24
Q

What is the requirements when operating to an Isolated aerodrome?

A

Have 2h of holding fuel at destination
Have current weather report for your ETA
Have a PNR

25
Q

When a PNR is used, what fuel is it accounting for?

A
  1. Fuel to turn onto reciprocal track
  2. Fuel from PNR to ERA with 5% contingency
  3. Final Reserve Fuel remaining at the ERA
26
Q

Is there any contingency fuel included in the “Additional Fuel”?

A

Yes, there is a 5% buffer included

27
Q

What is the minimum fuel required for take-off?

A

Trip Fuel
Contingency (5min=500kg)
Additional Fuel
Holding Fuel
Alternate Fuel
Final Reserve

28
Q

How much can Contingency Fuel be reduced by the PIC?

A

By max 10 min of OFP Contingency Fuel
Minimum Contingency fuel remaining can’t be less than 5 min
