Opening shall be done from the outside of the aircraft. Cabin crew may be approved to open doors after consultation with the PIC.
What is the policy for door opening in abnormal and emergency situations?
A Crew member is permitted to open a door subject to PIC approval after ensuring that the escape slides are disarmed (Manual)
What is the normal policy regarding closing of aircraft doors?
Normally Cabin Crew will close and lock the doors from the inside. Ground staff may assist in pushing on the door structure to assist but may not be involved in the locking procedure.
What message does the flight crew need from the cabin crew before push-back can be started?
“CABIN READY”
What are your actions when arriving to the aircraft you see water pooling on the floor due to rain?
Close the door and make sure water is removed and make sure aircraft electrical systems are operational.
In doubt tell engineers to do “Checklist for Water Instrusion”
What is the max temperature allowed in the aircraft to board pax?
Max 28 deg C
What is the standard usage policy for the APU?
- Start APU no earlier than 15 min before departure
2. Shutdown APU within 5 min of arrival
What are the exceptions from the APU usage policy?
Average cabin temp is over 26 deg C or below 14 deg C
What procedures should be in place when refueling with passengers on-board?
Over-wing fueling is prohibited
Flight crew member has to be on flight deck
Fasten seat belt sign OFF
No Smoking sign ON
Emergency Lights ARMED
No HF radio calls
Oxygen systems shall not be replenished
Air-bridges or steps shall be positioned at preferably L1 and L2 or L5 door
With no air-bridge or steps every main deck cabin zone shall have minimum one door available for deplaning
What is the requirements for uplifting “De-fueled fuel”?
Can only be done from CPA/KA or AHK aircraft
Not held in a fuel tanker for more than 24h
Water check is completed
Not use fuel that has been returned to the Fuel Farm
When does the pilots have to do a fuel water check?
Only in Hong Kong
With what winds should the doors not be opened?
With winds of 40 kts or more
With regards to windy conditions, when should the doors be closed?
With gusts of 65 kts or more
