Q

Define “Split Duty”?

A

When an FDP consists of two or more sectors, and the sectors are separated by a period of rest that is less than the minimum rest period, then the standard FDP may be extended by a period equal to half the period of rest taken, provided that:
1. The period of rest is between 3-10 hours and
2. The FDP either side of the rest doesn’t exceed 10h
3. Max allowable FDP using split duty is 18h

100h in 28 days
900h in 12 months

18
Q

What are the duty hour limitations?

A

These extensions can be exceeded only in an emergency

20
Q

Definition of “Local Night”?

A

8h of sleep between 22:00 - 08:00 Local time

21
Q

Definition of “Normal Rest”?

A

Rest period required after a Duty Period where the time difference is less than 6h

Rest has to be:
- At least as long as the preceding Duty Period or
- 12h
whichever is the greater

If the preceding duty period exceeded 18h, then the Rest Period must include a local night

22
Q

Definition of “Physiological Rest”?

A

Rest period required after a Duty Period where the time difference is more than 6h

Where the rest starts within 72h after the start of the Duty Period that resulted in the Flight Crew Member becoming Unacclimatised:
- At least as long as the preceding duty or
- A period sufficient to allow a sleep opportunity within
2200 to 0800h home base local time
- 14h… whichever is greater

Where the rest starts later than 72h after the start of the Duty Period that resulted in the Flight Crew Member becoming Unacclimatised:
- At least as long as the preceding duty or
- A period sufficient to allow a sleep opportunity within
2200 to 0800h home local time at place of rest
- 14h…. whichever is greater

As an alternative to the above:
- At least as long as the preceding duty or
- 34h…..whichever is greater

23
Q

What is the definition of a “Duty Period”?

A

Commences at actual reporting time and ends 30 min after chocks on or engine off, whichever is later

24
Q
  • What is the definition of a “Recovery Period”?
  • Can a “Rest Period” form part of a “Recovery Period”?
A
  • Period free of duty after a Duty Cycle greater than 48h and the pilot is unacclimatized
  • Yes
25
Q

What are the limitations when it comes to DDO?

A
  • Max 6 consecutive duty days
  • 2 DDO:s in 14 days
  • 7 DDO:s in 28 days
26
Q

How many hours of sleep is included in the definition of “Sleep Opportunity”?

A

8 consecutive hours

27
Q

When can Split-duty not be used to extend a duty?

A

Ultra Long Range Ops FDP (ULRO)
Long Range Ops FDP (LRO)
Standard FDP that already has been extended by the use of in-flight relief

28
Q

What special rule can be applied to “Normal Rest” if 12h is the calculated minimum rest period?

A
  • Rest may be reduced to 11h if suitable accommodation is provided
  • If traveling time to the resting place is more than 30min each way, then the Minimum rest
period must be increased by the time the traveling exceeds 1h
  • Room must be available for occupation minimum 10h
