We don’t use the before : noun + number
ex : Our train leave from Platform 5. We use : prison, hospital, university, college, church, bed, work, home in the same way as school : with the and without the. We don’t use the when we are thinking of the general idea of these places, and what they are used for. Ex : Ken is in prison for robbery. Ex :He had an accident last week. He was taken to hospital.
When we are talking about things or people in general, we do not use the, just use the when we talk about a specific thing :
ex : I love dogs. Ex : Doctors are paid better more than teachers. Ex : I collected stamps. Ex : The film isn’t good. But I like the music.
On my own
by myself : alone ex : I like living on my own. Ex : I like living by myself.
There must have been
