ὁ δοῦλος ἀπεκρίθη τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ, Ἀπεστάλην πρός σε ὑπὸ τοῦ κυρίου μου, ἀλλʼ οὐκ ἐλήμφθην εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου.
The slave answered the man, “I was sent to you by my master, but I was not received into your house.”
ἤχθημεν εἰς τὴν ἔρημον φωνῇ ἐκ τῶν οὐρανῶν καὶ ἐκεῖ ὤφθη ἡμῖν ἄγγελος θεοῦ.
We were led into the desert by a voice from heaven, and there an angel of God appeared to us.
ἡ ἀδελφὴ ὑμῶν ἐπορεύθη πρὸς τὸν λαὸν κηρύξαι τὴν ἀλήθειαν καὶ οἱ λόγοι αὐτῆς ἐγράφησαν ἐν βιβλίῳ.
Your (pl.) sister went to the people to preach the truth, and her words were written in a book.
πῶς ἐγερθήσονται οἱ νεκροὶ καὶ πῶς ἐκβληθήσεται τὰ δαιμόνια ἐκ τῆς γῆς ταύτης;
How will the dead be raised and how will the demons be cast out from this land?
ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ τόπος οὐχ εὑρέθη τοῖς τέκνοις, ἐνεχθήσονται οὖν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ διδασκάλου.
In the temple a place was not found (or, no place was found) for the children, so they will be brought into the house of the teacher.
οὐκ ἐγνώσθη ὁ κακὸς τῷ προσώπῳ ταῖς ἐξουσίαις, οὕτως ἠδυνήθη πάλιν ἀπολυθῆναι.
The evil man was not known by face to the authorities; thus, he was able to/could be released again.
καλὰ δῶρα προσηνέχθησαν τῷ προφήτῃ, ἀλλʼ ἤθελεν αὐτὰ πεμφθῆναι τοῖς τέκνοις.
Beautiful gifts were presented to the prophet, but he wanted them to be sent to the children.
ἐν τῇ ὥρᾳ ἐκείνῃ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ ἡμῶν ἐθεραπεύθησαν καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν δοξάσαι τὸν θεόν.
In that hour the eyes of our son were healed, and he went into the assembly to glorify God.
λίθοι ἐβλήθησαν εἰς τὰ πλοῖα, καὶ οἱ ὄχλοι ἐθαύμασαν ὅτι αὐτὰ οὐκ ἐλύθη.
Stones were thrown into the boats, and the crowds marveled that they were not destroyed.
ἡ ἀδελφὴ ἡμῶν ἐκρίθη ὑπὸ τῶν ἐξουσιῶν καὶ εὑρέθη πιστὴ ἐν ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτῆς.
Our sister was judged by the authorities and was found faithful in her whole house.
ἐβαπτίσθητε ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ καὶ ἐδιδάχθητε τὴν ὁδόν, οὕτως δὲ ἐγενήθητε πιστοὶ μαθηταί.
You were baptized in the lake and you were taught the way, and thus you became faithful disciples.
οἱ ἁμαρτωλοὶ ἀχθήσονται πρὸς τὸν θρόνον τῆς δικαιοσύνης, καὶ τὰ ἔργα αὐτῶν κατὰ τοῦ νόμου γνωσθήσονται.
The sinners will be led to the throne of righteousness, and their deeds against the law will be known.
πῶς σωθήσονται αἱ βασιλεῖαι τοῦ κόσμου τούτου ἐν τῇ ἐσχάτῃ ἡμέρᾳ;
How will the kingdoms of this world be saved in the last day?
ἄρτος καὶ οἶνος ἡτοιμάσθησαν τῷ ἀποστόλῳ, ἀλλὰ ἰδοὺ οὔτε ἔφαγεν οὔτε ἔπιεν.
Bread and wine were prepared for the apostle, but behold, he neither ate nor drank.
