οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ τοῦ τέκνου ἐθεραπεύοντο τῷ λόγῳ τοῦ προφήτου.
The child’s eyes were being healed by the word of the prophet.
ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ ἠκούομεν τούτους τοὺς λόγους παρὰ σοῦ, ἀλλʼ οὐκ ἠθέλομεν δέχεσθαι αὐτούς.
In the temple we were hearing these words from you, but we did not want to receive them.
ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν μὲν ἦν πρῶτος ἐν τῇ γῇ, αὐτὸς δὲ ἐλύετο ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις αὐτοῦ.
Our lord/master was foremost in the land, but he was being destroyed by his sins.
ταῦτα ἐγράφοντο ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τοῦ νόμου, ὑμεῖς δὲ οὐκ ἐδύνασθε βλέπειν αὐτά.
These things were being written in the book of the law, but you (pl.) were not able to see them.
τὰ μὲν δαιμόνια ἐξήρχοντο ἀπὸ τοῦ τέκνου, αὐτὸ δὲ ἔτι ἀπέθνῃσκεν.
[On the one hand] the demons were going out of the child, but [on the other hand] he/she was still dying.
ἐκείνη ἡ βασιλεία ἦν πονηρά, ἀλλὰ καὶ πρὸς τὸν τόπον ἐκεῖνον ὁ μαθητὴς ἀπεστέλλετο.
That kingdom was evil, but even to that place the disciple was being sent.
καὶ ἐπορεύεσθε ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τῆς ἀγάπης καὶ ἐδιδάσκεσθε τὸν νόμον τῆς ἀγάπης.
You (pl.) were both walking in the way of love and were being taught the law of love.
ἐπέμποντο βιβλία τε καὶ δῶρα πρὸς τοὺς ἁμαρτωλούς, αὐτοὶ δὲ οὔτε ἤθελον οὔτε ἐδέχοντο αὐτά.
Books and gifts were being sent to the sinners, but they neither wanted nor received them.
ᾖρον καὶ τὰ τέκνα τὴν φωνὴν αὐτῶν καὶ ἔλεγον, Τὸν αὐτὸν ἄρτον ὀφείλομεν ἐσθίειν πάλιν;
Even the children were lifting up their voice and were saying, “Must we eat the same bread again?”
κακὰ δαιμόνια διήρχοντο τὴν γῆν, ἀλλʼ οὔτε ἔμενον ἐν τῷ τόπῳ ἐκείνῳ οὔτε ἤθελον ἀποκτείνειν τὸν λαόν.
Evil demons were going through the land, but they were neither remaining in that place nor did they wish to kill the people.
σὺ ἔλεγες τότε ὅτι θεὸς ἐθεράπευε τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς σου, ἀμὴν δὲ λέγω σοι, Θεὸς μέλλει θεραπεύειν τὴν καρδίαν σου.
You (sing.) were saying then that God was healing your eyes, but truly I say to you, “God is going to heal your heart.”
ἰδοὺ ἡ βασιλεία τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἔρχεται· ἡ δόξα τῷ θεῷ καὶ ἡ εἰρήνη τοῖς δούλοις αὐτοῦ. ἀμήν.
Behold, the kingdom of heaven is coming. Glory [be] to God and peace [be] to his servants. Amen.
ὑμεῖς ἦτε πιστοὶ τῷ κυρίῳ ἔν τε τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ, ἀλλʼ ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις ὑμῶν οὐκ ἐπορεύεσθε ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ.
You (pl.) were faithful to the Lord in the temple and in the way, but in your houses you were not walking in the truth.
θέλομεν βλέπειν τὸ πρόσωπον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς καὶ πάλιν ἐν οὐρανῷ.
We desire to see the face of God on earth and again in heaven.
