Describe plantar aponeurosis
Thickening of deep fascia in the sole of the lot
* Firmly anchored to medial process of the calcaneal tuberosity and extends forward as a tick band of longitudinally arranged connective tissue fibres. The fibres diverges as they pass anteriorly and form digital bands which enter toes and connect with bones, ligaments and dermis of skin over lower
* Distal to metatarsophalaneal joints, the digital bands of plantar apponeurosis are interconnected by transverse fibres which form superficial transverse metatarsal. Ligaments
* Supports the longitudinal arch of the foot and protects deeper structures in the sole.
