L20 - Hypersensitivity Flashcards
Graves’ Disease
disease in which antibodies are produced against the TSH receptors in the thymus; the result is constitutive activation of the thymus (hyperthyroidism)
myasthenia gravis
disease in which antibodies are produced against acetylcholine receptors at neuromuscular junctions; results in progressive muscle weakness due to signal interference
acute rheumatic fever
condition that can follow after an infection with some streptococcal strains; results in antibody production against cardiac cells
