The ritual of bathing the body.
- Washing the private parts three times using a new piece of cloth each time.
- Washing the mouth with a piece of unused wet cloth
- Cleansing the nostrils with a piece of unused wet cloth
- Washing the face of the dead
- Washing the right hand and then the left hand
- The ma-sah is then performed
- Washing the right foot and then the left foot
- Washing the entire body from head to foot

- Family (or funeral home staff) will dress by wrapping them in muslin material
- The whole body is covered with wrapping cloth; men three pieces, women five pieces.
- Casket chosen is usually the simplest wooden casket available (unique to the US)- no images or symbols

Dressing and Casketing

Visitation

- Casket carried by male family members and is placed as much as 50 feet from the place of interment
- Casket placed north and south with the head towards the south and facing east.
- Casket is opened for funeral service (approximately 20 mins)
- Jamaazah Namaaz (funeral prayer)
- All prayers to Allah are done in public by men only.
- Grave may be marked with a stone
- Loosen the ties of the wrapping cloth
- Fill the grave- mounded one foot above the surrounding ground.
