Ipratropium Bromide Class
A
- Anticholinergic
- Short-acting antimuscarinic bronchodilator

Ipratropium Bromide MOA
A
- Antagonizes action of acetylcholine on bronchial smooth muscle walls, resulting in increased duration of sympathetic response.

Ipratropium Bromide Indications
A
- Persistent bronchospasms
- COPD exacerbation
- Toxic inhalation in conjunction with albuterol.

Ipratropium Bromide Adult dose
A
- 0.5 mg via SVN or in-line with BVM, in conjunction with albuterol; repeat every 20 min. as needed up to 3 doses

Ipratropium Bromide Contraindications
A
- Known hypersensitivity to anticholinergics
- Use with caution in urinary retention, narrow-angle glaucoma, hypertensive and history of CAD.

Ipratropium Bromide Adverse reactions
A
- CNS: headache, dizziness, insomnia, tremors, nervousness
- Resp: coughing, increased sputum production
- GI: nausea

Ipratropium Bromide Pediatric dose
A
- 0.5 mg via SVN or in-line with BVM, in conjunction with albuterol; repeat every 20 min. as needed up to 3 doses
