what can disrupt CT scans? [1]
what can disrupt CT scans? [1]
metal artefacts - creates dark and white streaks. Although now algorithms can make them better.
which plane do you normally take CT scan in? [1]
what can CT also be compiled into? [3]
which plane do you normally take CT scan in? [1]
axial (=transverse)
but can be compiled into:
coronal, sagittal & 3D reconstruction
CT scans are good for identifying / look at what? [2]
CT scans are good for identifying / look at what? [2]
- *- fractures
- skull injuries**
how does MRI scanning create an image? [1]
what is MRI basically measuring content of what molceule in body parts? [1]
how does MRI scanning create an image? [1]
aligns the H protons in an ordered array. normally H+ go in different directions bc the earths natural magnetic field is v low. but when put MRI machine on = 10 - 30 k x earths magnetic field. causes the H+ to align in same direction. measure of how long H+ return to random directions
what is MRI basically measuring content of what molceule in body parts? [1]
water
what should not be placed in MRI? [5]
cardiac pacemaker (although not new models)
aneursym clips
metallic foreign bodies
not in early stimulators
surgical clips before 6 weeks of being in this
what is difference between T1 & T2 imaging:
- which one shows normal anatomy? pathology?
- what do each show fat [1] & CSF [1] as?
- which one is more sensitive to water content?
what is difference between T1 & T2 imaging?
- which one shows normal anatomy?
T1 = normal
T2 = pathology - what do each show fat as?
- *T1:** fat = white, liquid; CSF = pale grey
- *T2: fat = pale grey , CSF & fluid = white**
- which one is more sensitive to water content?
- *T2 - good 4 oedema**
T1 or T2 imaging? [1]
T2: white = oedema
T1 or T2 MRI?
T2
what type of imaging is this? [1]
what can be seen going on here? [1]
what type of imaging is this? [1]
T1 - bone marrow is seen as white
what can be seen going on here? [1]
avascular necrosis on right femoral head
