Q

Unless the tiles are being installed over drywall, underside or ceiling joists are strapped with:

A

19 mm thick furring boards on centres that match the tile dimensions.

18
Q

Interlocking tiles are installed with:

19
Q

Square edge tiles are installed with:

20
Q

Ceiling tiles can be installed how?

A

Surface mounted grid system that is installed tight to the underside of joists.

21
Q

Acoustic tile is?

A

Acoustic tile is made from:

Fibre board, provides thermal insulation and improves the acoustics in the room

22
Q

Thickness of wood panel ceiling?

A

5/16 to 1”

23
Q

Purpose of suspended ceiling types and components?

A

Exposed grid allows the top of tracks of demountable partitions to be fastened to it without damaging the ceiling finish.

24
Q

How do you install eyelet into concrete?

A

Hole are drilled and specially designed concrete sleeve anchor hangers are hammered up into holes and then lightly pulled to set sleeve.

25
What kind of hanger wire is used?
10 g steel wire approx 3mm that has been pre-stressed. Comes in 10' lengths. Packaged straight and not rolled up. Alllows it to hang straight after being tied.
26
Hanger wire length can be adjusted by:
Bending and twisting as in Figure 5 or using preformed with end hooks and a sliding adjustment bracket.
27
What is a wall mold?
L-shaped metal molding attached to the wall. Supports the edges of the ceiling tile.
28
Wall mold is attached to framing how?
Screws or roofing nails spaced at 600 mm OC
29
What is the main Tee?
Known as main beam - Supporting member of the grid system.
30
Main Tee is supported with wire how often?
Every 4'
31
Main tee has slots where?
3" from the ends and then every 6" to allow placement of the cross tees. Main Tee come in 12' lengths.
32
What are cross tees?
Cross tee span from main to main tee. Either 2' or 4' in length. Cross teee has 1.2m slot in mid point allowing 6 mm cross tee to be inserted.
33
Most tiles are designed to fit into a:
600 mm x 1200 mm ( 2 ' x 4 ' ) grid system. Tiles themselves are slightly smaller to allow them to be easily slipped into place.
34
What is a ventilation grill?
Designed to fit into a 600 x 600 mm grid space.
35
Heavy grills are supported how?
Not bear upon the cieling grid, may consist of 1/4" steel rods securely fastened to overhead supports.
36
Light fixtures are designed to fit in:
600 x 1200 mm (2 ' x 4 ' ) grid space. Must be independently supported.
37
Seiesmic ceilings supported how?
with special joiners
38
Dropped ceiling projects how far beyond face of cabinets?
1"
39
What is a carrying channel?
Heavy gauge steel channel. Usually 38 mm (11/2") wide with 13 mm (1/2) channel legs. Support channels with hanger wire at 1200 mm (48") and within 6" of their ends.
40
How to attach furring and steel studs to the carrying channel?
With tie wire. Attach gypsum board to the furring or stud with screws.
