How are doors in a sliding door system supported?
Rollers at the bottom of the track that run on a rail or track.
What type of of door slides into an opening in a wall?
A pocket door.
Where are accordion doors used?
They’re used to divide a large room into two smaller rooms.
What type of door is used to provide ventilation?
Louver doors.
Describe a french door?
French doors are stile and rail doors that feature one or more glass panels. Individual glass panel is referred to as a “Light”
What is an astragal?
Astragal is attached to a passive door and moves with it when opened.
What are double-acting doors?
Double-acting doors are able to swing in and out of a door opening.
EX - Entrance to their work spaces where the workers must open the door without using their hands.
Bi - fold door finished openings:
Height of door is less than the finished opening to allow for the track and hardware.
Width of a bi-fold door is 1/8 less than the finished opening, the height of the finished opening for bi-fold door is 6’” or 7’0” or 8’0”.
What is a bypassing door?
Pairs of doors, usually used in a closet. Hung on a track, bottom of the door is guided by low friction, nylon guide strips or nylon guide pins.
What is a pocket door?
Doors slide into a recess built into the wall, very useful where there is no room for swinging door.
What is an accordion door?
An accordion door is made from many small panels. Each small panel has a fitting at the top that slides in the overhead track.
What is a Louver door?
Louver doors are used when ventilation is required. Louvers are a series of horizontal slats that are angled to deflect rainwater or to provide a visual screen.
