the crowd starts crying even more which Huck considers
disgusting
the king gets up and
thanks the crowd
the king says how they would like to bring friends of the family to
supper in the evening
these friends are:
rev. hobson, deacon lot hovey, mr. ben rucker, abner shackleford, levi bell, dr.robinson, their wives, and widow bartley
the king mentions the things that happened to george’s family or to peter and claimed that peter wrote those things to him in
letters
peter’s letter states that the girls would get the
house and $3000
harvey and william would get the
tanyard, houses, land, $3000
there was $6000 in the
cellar
the duke and king decide to go get the money and they tell
huck to come with
the pile in the cellar was
$415 short
the duke and king used the money they earned from the play to make it
$60000, and the duke said that they could give the money to the girls
the king makes a speech and they give
the money to the girls
the king continues to speak and no one notices the
man that entered the room
the king mispronounces the word obsequies and says orgies instead until the duke corrects him
on a piece of paper
the king then claims that in england they use the
word orgies now
the man is Dr. Robinson, who claims that the king is a
fraud because he can’t imitate Englishn lingo
Mary Jane gives all $6000 to the king and tells him to
invest it for her and her sisters
mary jane and her sisters hug the king in a show of
defense against the doctor
